Irakli Kobakhidze: We heard the first admission that Khazaradze wasn’t paying taxes, but what’s even more interesting is whether such a deal actually existed — the second admission might turn out to be even more revealing

It has been acknowledged that Khazaradze was not paying taxes based on a specific arrangement, but what is even more interesting is whether such an arrangement actually existed, stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to journalists in response to the Revenue Service’s statement regarding the initiation of an investigation into the German Ambassador Peter Fischer renting an apartment owned by the family of Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of “Lelo for Strong Georgia.”

According to the Prime Minister, an even more interesting revelation could be a “second acknowledgment that we might hear in the future.”

“We have already heard the first acknowledgment. It has been acknowledged that Khazaradze was not paying taxes based on a specific arrangement, but what is even more interesting is whether such an arrangement actually existed. This is the main question that needs to be answered. Was there really a failure to pay taxes, or in reality, was there no financial arrangement related to the rental of this specific property? This is the main question now. We have heard the first acknowledgment, but a second acknowledgment, which we might hear in the future, could be even more interesting,” Kobakhidze stated.

For reference, the Revenue Service has launched an investigation into media reports that the German Ambassador, Peter Fischer, is renting an apartment in Tbilisi owned by the family of Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of “Lelo for Strong Georgia.” According to the agency, the analysis of this issue revealed a possible tax law violation, prompting the Revenue Service to initiate an investigation into the facts. They stated that tax control measures, as defined by law, will be carried out to thoroughly investigate the information.
