Once again, we are convinced that Ivanishvili and his regime, which has been left without legitimacy, are truly terrified of any kind of political confrontation and political struggle," said Grigol Gegelia, Foreign Secretary of Lelo – For a Strong Georgia, in response to the National Bureau of Enforcement freezing his party’s official bank account.
According to Gegelia, this shows that the Georgian Dream coalition sees them as the main target and fears political competition.
"This is a continuation of the Bolshevik mentality we’ve been witnessing from Georgian Dream for years. It also shows that Lelo – For a Strong Georgia is the main target of Georgian Dream. They are afraid of our struggle and afraid of political resistance. That’s why our message has always been — and remains — that there is no alternative to political struggle, regardless of which front or tools are used.
Once again, we see and are convinced that Ivanishvili and his illegitimate regime are deeply afraid of any kind of political confrontation or battle. He has no legitimacy, no inner political energy, and no international legitimacy. He knows very well that the very first consolidated political challenge will effectively bring him down,” Gegelia stated.
For context, according to Irakli Kupradze, Secretary General of the Lelo – For a Strong Georgia coalition, the National Bureau of Enforcement has frozen the coalition’s official bank account. The party claims the account was frozen in connection with a 130 GEL transfer made at the party’s Gori office.
