Today, in the courtroom, we witnessed a one-woman revolution against the regime! Today, Mzia Amaghlobeli, with her silence, toppled Bidzina Ivanishvili’s regime – yes, today we saw that a woman is a woman, and Mzia Amaghlobeli is a proud, strong, patriotic Georgian woman, and the entire country saw that Dgebuadze is not a man – this statement was made by Tina Bokuchava, the leader of the “National Movement.”
According to Bokuchava’s assessment, the reclassification of the charge against Mzia Amaghlobeli and the imposition of a 2-year imprisonment is not a retreat.
“What we witnessed in the courtroom was the toppling of Bidzina Ivanishvili. This one woman, with her resilience, steadfastness, determination, and fight, exposed and defeated the regime. Yes, this was a one-woman revolution against Ivanishvili’s regime!
It had no substantive significance whether the so-called judge, a political servant, announced 2 years, 3 years, or 7 years. I do not consider the decision made to be a retreat – it is an attempt to deceive the people so that our solidarity fades and the one-woman revolution we saw today from Mzia Amaghlobeli is suppressed and evaporates. This must not happen – on the contrary! We must consolidate our energy and topple the regime that commits such injustices,” Tina Bokuchava stated.
Journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment.
The judge changed the charge initially brought under Article 353/1, Part 1 of the Criminal Code to Article 353, Part 1. The latter pertains to resistance against a police officer, a special penitentiary service employee, or another representative of the authorities with the intent to obstruct public order protection, terminate, or alter their activities. The penalties for this offense include a fine, house arrest for up to 2 years, or imprisonment for 2 to 6 years.
