State flags lowered on administrative buildings throughout Georgia relating to 17th anniversary of 2008 Russia-Georgia War

On the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the 2008 Russo-Georgian War, state flags have been lowered on administrative buildings as a sign of respect for the memory of the dead.

The flags were lowered, among others, on the buildings of the Georgian Government Administration, Parliament, Presidential Palace, as well as Georgian diplomatic missions abroad.

“By a government decree signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, state flags have been lowered on administrative buildings throughout Georgia in honor of the memory of those who died as a result of the large-scale military intervention carried out by Russia in Georgia with the aim of illegally occupying the Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions of Georgia,” the Georgian government said in the statement.
