Georgian Dream has presented mayoral candidates in 63 municipalities.
The mayoral candidates were presented by the party’s chairman, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
“As you know, we have launched the election campaign, presented a candidate for mayor of the capital and candidates for majoritarian deputies of the Tbilisi City Council.
Today, as the chairman and head of the election headquarters of the Georgian Dream, I would like to present to you the mayoral candidates across the country - in 63 municipalities.
In principle, in most cases, the identities of the candidates are already known, banners and billboards have also been put up, however, I would like to present to you all 63 mayoral candidates together.
First of all, it should be noted that according to all surveys, local self-government enjoys exceptionally high trust in society. Naturally, our task is to further strengthen this trust. This is the merit of our local party representatives, local government leaders, mayors, city council chairmen, city council members, and every employee of local government. I would like to take this opportunity to express my special gratitude to all of them for this.
I would like to express my special gratitude to the mayors of the municipalities, who have served their municipalities and local populations with professionalism and integrity over the past 4 years.
It should be noted that the majority of the 63 candidates to be presented today are incumbent mayors or acting mayors. Also, today we are presenting new candidates in various municipalities.
I will start with Kakheti, where we will present the incumbent mayors as candidates in 5 out of 8 municipalities. These are:
In Akhmeta - Aleksi Pitskhelauri;
In Gurjaani - Giorgi Machavariani;
In Dedoplistskaro - Nikoloz Janiashvili;
In Lagodekhi - Jondo Mdivnishvili;
In Sighnaghi - Malkhaz Begiashvili;
In Kvareli, our mayoral candidate will be the incumbent chairman of the Kvareli Sakrebulo - Ilia Mzekalashvili; In Sagarejo, a successful and experienced civil servant - Vakhtang Kakutashvili, who until now worked at the Ministry of Defense of Georgia; and in Telavi, the incumbent deputy prosecutor of Kakheti - Vazha Maghradze.
In Kvemo Kartli, we will present the incumbent mayors in 4 out of 7 municipalities. These are:
In Rustavi - Nino Latsabidze;
In Gardabani - Davit Kargareteli;
In Dmanisi - Koba Muradashvili;
In Tsalkasi - Ilia Sabadze;
In Marneuli, our candidate will be Dauri Ismailov, who has many years of experience in public service; In Tetritskaro, we will present the incumbent deputy chairman of the Tetritskaro Sakrebulo - Mikheil Aptsiauri; and in Bolnisi, a successful lawyer with many years of experience in public service - Zamuri Chitanava.
In Mtskheta-Mtianeti, we will present the incumbent mayor - Levan Tsiklauri in the Tianeti municipality.
In Mtskheta, our candidate will be a successful architect and manager - Gogi Abuashvili; In Dusheti, we will nominate the incumbent chairman of the Dusheti Sakrebulo - Kakhaber Chitauri; and in Kazbegi, a successful engineer with many years of managerial experience - Koba Geladze.
In Shida Kartli, we will nominate the incumbent mayor or acting mayor in 3 out of 4 municipalities. These are:
In Gori - Konstantine Buzaladze;
In Kareli - Zaza Guliashvili;
In Kaspi -Vakhtang Maisuradze;
In Khashuri, our candidate will be Paata Chaduneli, who has 20 years of experience working in top managerial positions in the private sector.
In Samtskhe-Javakheti, we will nominate the incumbent mayors in 4 out of 6 municipalities.
These are:
In Adigeni: Gocha Kimadze;
In Aspindza: Rostom Magrakvelidze;
In Akhalkalaki: Melkon Makariani;
In Ninotsminda: Anivard Mosoiani;
In Akhaltsikhe, our mayoral candidate will be journalist Varlam Tsiklauri, and in Borjomi, Mamuka Gelashvili, who has many years of experience working in law enforcement agencies.
We will present the incumbent mayor or acting mayor in 9 out of 12 municipalities in Imereti. These are:
In Kutaisi: Davit Eremeishvili;
In Sachkhere: Levan Ivanashvili;
In Chiatura: Givi Modebadze;
In Kharagauli: Koba Lursmanashvili;
In Terjola: Manuchar Robakidze;
In Vani: Aleksandre Gogorishvili;
In Samtredia: Davit Bakhtadze;
In Khoni: Lado Jurkhadze;
In Tskaltubo: Genadi Balanchivadze
In Bagdati, our mayoral candidate will be the incumbent chairman of the Bagdati Sakrebulo - Nodar Giorgidze; in Zestaponi, the incumbent chairman of the Zestaponi Sakrebulo - Vakhtang Gambashidze; and in Tkibuli - Davit Kublashvili, who successfully led the Tkibuli party organization of the Georgian Dream for years.
In Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions, we will present the incumbent chairmen of the Sakrebulo as mayoral candidates. These are:
In Tsageri: Chabuki Chabukiani;
In Lentekhi: Giorgi Gazdeliani;
In Racha, we will nominate successful entrepreneurs as mayoral candidates: in Ambrolauri - Zaza Kevanishvili, and in Oni - Davit Lobzhanidze.
In Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, we will nominate mayors in 5 out of 9 municipalities. These are:
In Poti: Beka Vacharadze;
In Khobi: Davit Bukia;
In Senaki: Vakhtang Gadelia;
In Abasha: Giga Gabelaia;
In Mestia: Kapiton Zhorzholiani;
In Zugdidi, our mayoral candidate will be a member of the Parliament of Georgia - Dato Kodua; in Chkhorotskhu, a former parliamentarian - Jumber Izoria; in Martvili, a successful entrepreneur - Giorgi Nachkebia; and in Tsalenjikha, a successful civil servant - Guba Sajaia.
We will nominate the incumbent mayor of Guria, Aleksandre Sarishvili, in the Lanchkhuti municipality. In Ozurgeti, our mayoral candidate will be a successful lecturer and manager, Paata Kunchulia, and in Chokhatauri, the incumbent deputy mayor of Chokhatauri, Mindia Sunchia.
Finally, in Adjara, we will nominate the incumbent mayor or acting mayor in 3 out of 6 municipalities. These are:
In Kobuleti: Irakli Tsetskhladze
In Khelvachauri: Zaza Diasamidze
In Shuakhevi: Omar Takidze
In 2 municipalities, we will nominate the incumbent deputies of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara as mayoral candidates. These are:
In Kedha: Mamuka Turmanidze
In Khulo: Vakhtang Beridze
In Batumi, our mayoral candidate will be the acting head of the administration of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara - Giorgi Tsintsadze.
This is the list of our candidates. We are confident that all candidates will win the elections in the respective municipality. Our goal is clear - this is to win both the mayoral and city council elections in all 64 municipalities across the country. Surveys also confirm that this is an absolutely real and realistic goal. Naturally, our election headquarters, the party will be maximally mobilized in order to achieve this result. I wish the mayoral candidates every success,” Kobakhidze said.
