He [Giorgi Bachiashvili] is taking advantage of the current situation and is making every effort to frame his specific crime as politically motivated, – said the Secretary General of “Georgian Dream,” Kakha Kaladze, while speaking about the case of the former CEO of the “Co-Investment Fund,” Giorgi Bachiashvili.
According to him, there was no kidnapping or abduction of Giorgi Bachiashvili, and his transfer was carried out from a foreign country. As Kaladze explained, he does not see the need for an investigation in this regard.
“I am not familiar with the details, but the problems that have emerged are obvious. The Prosecutor’s Office has made numerous statements. All questions should be answered.
He is taking advantage of the current situation and is making every effort to frame his specific crime as politically motivated.
Regarding the incident in prison, I have already explained that it is very serious when people who have committed crimes confront each other. There should be an investigation; the penitentiary service has given explanations. I cannot say more on this, let’s wait for the details that will be revealed.
As for his transfer, he was brought from a foreign country. There was no kidnapping or abduction whatsoever. What investigation should be launched? There was no such fact. His transfer took place from a foreign country. [The claim of kidnapping] is pure nonsense,” Kaladze stated.
For reference, the appeal court hearing of the former CEO of the “Co-Investment Fund,” Giorgi Bachiashvili, will be held on August 12 at 12:00, where the verdict will be announced. The case concerns the alleged misappropriation of cryptocurrency belonging to the founder of “Georgian Dream,” Bidzina Ivanishvili, for which Tbilisi City Court sentenced Bachiashvili to 11 years in prison.
