Didgoroba is a symbol of the steadfast spirit, unity, and victory of the Georgian nation; in the history of every nation, there are dates that fundamentally define its future. August 12, 1121, is precisely such a date for us, – stated the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, in his speech at the event dedicated to the celebration of Didgoroba.
According to the Prime Minister, it was the ultimate victory of the idea of the Georgian state and, at the same time, of Christian values.
“Today we celebrate one of the most glorious dates in our history – Didgoroba. This day is a symbol of the steadfast spirit, unity, and victory of the Georgian nation. In the history of every nation, there are dates that fundamentally define its future. August 12, 1121, is exactly such a date for us. This was not merely a success in battle; it was the ultimate victory of the idea of the Georgian state and, at the same time, of those Christian values on which our entire culture and history are based. In a numerically unequal war, the strategic vision of David the Builder, the dedication of the warriors, and the unity of the nation created the ‘miraculous victory,’ which not only brought freedom to our country but also laid the foundation for Georgia’s Golden Age – a period of political, economic, cultural, and educational renaissance, transforming our country into the most powerful state in the region,” the Prime Minister said.
According to the head of government, today, the modern Didgori of the Georgian nation is the struggle for the country’s final unification and the strengthening of its sovereignty.
“The main lesson of Didgori remains unchanged for every generation – when a nation is united for a common goal, driven by faith in its truth, and led by a worthy leader, there is no obstacle it cannot overcome. In today’s world, full of challenges, we are reminded of the wise words of His Holiness – ‘Didgori is yet to be won.’
Today, our modern Didgori is the struggle for the country’s final unification and the strengthening of its sovereignty; today, we also have to fight for the consolidation of our country’s independence, as well as for the protection of those Christian values on which not only our identity but the entire European civilization has traditionally been and continues to be based. This struggle requires the same unity, wisdom, and devotion to the homeland that our great ancestors demonstrated nine centuries ago. I am confident that with our unity and this spirit, we will definitely achieve our historic goal. Congratulations on Didgoroba,” the Prime Minister stated.
