The prosecutor stated that the Appellate Court determined Giorgi Bachiashvili to be guilty, having misappropriated cryptocurrency and legalized the misappropriated assets

Documents, including those prepared by Giorgi Bachiashvili himself, confirmed his guilt and criminality, according to prosecutor Mikheil Sadradze, who spoke about the case of Giorgi Bachiashvili, the former General Director of the "Co-Investment Fund."

Sadradze further noted that the Appellate Court’s decision clearly demonstrates that Giorgi Bachiashvili is guilty, having misappropriated cryptocurrency and legalized the misappropriated assets.

“The Appellate Court’s decision is a clear demonstration that the panel fully evaluated and analyzed all evidence, witness testimonies, and documentation, and determined that Giorgi Bachiashvili is guilty, having misappropriated cryptocurrency and legalized the misappropriated assets. There were no altered testimonies. The factual circumstances appear very straightforward... Documents and those prepared by Giorgi Bachiashvili himself confirmed his guilt and criminality,” Sadradze stated.

According to Sadradze, the statements and motives Giorgi Bachiashvili presented were far removed from the evidence.

“To put it simply, there was practically no legal basis in his words or position. During the questioning, I asked him, and he confirmed that he had no connection to politics. Before the case became widely known to the public, he was not an active public figure. His activities as an individual were not of interest to the public. The statements and motives he spoke about are far from the evidence. They are far from the evidence that Bachiashvili himself provided during the investigation and referenced in court.

For example, there is a record, the authenticity of which I will not address. The record explicitly mentions certain benefits, followed by a calculation presented in that context, and he also takes a certain position. All these circumstances were rejected in the Appellate Court,” Sadradze noted.

For reference, the Appellate Court upheld the Tbilisi City Court’s decision sentencing Giorgi Bachiashvili, the former General Director of the "Co-Investment Fund," to 11 years of imprisonment. The case concerns the misappropriation of cryptocurrency belonging to Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of "Georgian Dream," for which the Tbilisi City Court sentenced Bachiashvili to 11 years in prison.
