Salome Zurabishvili: Where there is no free media, there is neither freedom, nor democracy, nor a free society

Where there is no free media, there is neither freedom, nor democracy, nor a free society, stated Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, to Interpressnews during a march in support of the media.

As Zurabishvili noted, even more people will come out to defend the media.

"Media freedom is of great importance - fundamental and essential importance - not only in Georgia but worldwide. Where there is no free media, there is neither freedom, nor democracy, nor a free society. Everything depends on this, and without information, we are nothing and no one. Therefore, we must realize this, and I believe this awareness is evident today. Even more people will come out to defend the media because we all depend on you," said Salome Zurabishvili.
