The Parliament’s Defense and Security Committee, in a closed session, will discuss the appointment of Mamuka Mdinaradze as the head of the State Security Service

The Parliament’s Defense and Security Committee, in a format closed to the media, will consider the issue of appointing Mamuka Mdinaradze to the position of head of the State Security Service.

Mamuka Mdinaradze, nominated by the government for the position of head of the State Security Service, is participating in the closed session and will present his vision for the new role to the committee members.

Mamuka Mdinaradze has forward-looking visions for how he will carry out his duties. Each of us is confident that he will be one of the most successful heads of the State Security Service, given his personal qualities and the professional path that characterizes him.

We can say that national security issues will be in reliable hands!” said the committee chairman, Alexandre Tabatadze, at the start of the session.

The Parliament will elect Mamuka Mdinaradze as the head of the State Security Service at today’s plenary session.

For the past few months, Anri Okhanashvili has led the State Security Service. Okhanashvili was elected by the Parliament as the head of the State Security Service in April 2025 for a six-year term, but he announced his resignation in August.
