According to the newly appointed head of the State Security Service, Mamuka Mdinaradze, Irakli Beraia will no longer be the head of the Intelligence Service.

As Mdinaradze told the media, he is joining the State Security Service “with his own team.”

He added that information about his team members will be announced tomorrow.

“I’ll tell you briefly, I’m going with my team. You’ll find out tomorrow. Despite the fact that [Irakli Beraia] is our friend and a very good professional, I have my own vision and my own team,” Mdinaradze stated.

For reference, Mamuka Mdinaradze replaced Anri Okhanashvili as the head of the State Security Service. His candidacy for the position was supported by 85 members of Parliament.
