Public Defender visits female prisoners, including Mzia Amaglobeli and Nino Datashvili

On September 12, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani visited Penitentiary Institution No. 5 and met with female defendants/convicts.

According to the Public Defender’s Office, Ioseliani heard information from female prisoners about their conditions of detention and the state of protection of their rights. The Public Defender also met with the institution’s administration and inspected the prison’s infrastructure.

According to the Public Defender’s Office, the Public Defender also visited Mzia Amaglobeli and Nino Datashvili.

"Nino Datashvili was informed that on September 10, 2025, the Public Defender addressed a recommendation to the Minister of Justice of Georgia regarding her specific health problem. The Office will continue to actively supervise the protection of her rights in the future," reads the information released by the Ombudsman's Office.
