The Ministry of Internal Affairs issues a statement regarding the detention of Elene Khoshtaria

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has released a statement concerning the detention of Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the "Coalition for Change."

According to the Ministry, the case pertains to the damage of election banners belonging to Kakha Kaladze, the Tbilisi mayoral candidate of "Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia."

"Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained Elene Khoshtaria, born in 1979, on charges of damaging property.

According to the investigation materials, on September 14 of this year, the accused damaged the election banners of the Tbilisi mayoral candidate of the 'Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia' party on Melikishvili Avenue in Tbilisi.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 187 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to damaging or destroying property.

The crime carries a penalty of up to 5 years of imprisonment," the statement reads.
