Irakli Rukhadze: Any sanctions that do not work and are foolish will certainly harm business – as for the country’s foreign policy, it has it changed

Any sanctions that do not work and are foolish will certainly harm [business], - Irakli Rukhadze, the owner of the Imedi TV company, said in response to a question about whether the sanctions against Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of the Georgian Dream, would harm Georgian business.

At the same time, he explained that he is not expecting sanctions.

"Of course, any sanctions that do not work and are foolish will harm. Of course, [sanctions] do not work. I am not expecting my sanctions, sanctions do not work, you can read the opinion of economists. Did sanctions work in Russia?! No, of course not," - Rukhadze noted before the start of a meeting between the Prime Minister and business representatives.

When asked what will happen if sanctions against Ivanishvili are tightened, Rukhadze replied: “Why? What did he do wrong?! Why should he be fined, what did he do wrong?!”

In addition, to another question, whether the country’s foreign policy has changed against the will of the people, Rukhadze replies: “No, has it changed?! Of course not.”
