"Mr. Prosecutors, the charges for the unconstitutional overthrow of the state, for organizing violent groups, and for seizing strategic facilities should be brought against Bidzina Ivanishvili," – said Irakli Nadiradze, a member of the United National Movement detained in connection with the October 4 rally case, during his court hearing.
According to Nadiradze, he does not intend to evade responsibility or hide.
"In my life, I have never avoided responsibility, and I do not intend to now. I do not admit to the charges presented against me in any part. The first accusation against me is the unconstitutional overthrow of the state. The person who actually overthrew the state constitutionally is Bidzina Ivanishvili. He rigged the elections and usurped power. No one recognizes his legitimacy. Moreover, last November, we were told that the country was no longer moving toward Europe – that was the constitutional overthrow. The charge should be brought against Bidzina Ivanishvili.
As for the second charge, organizing violent groups – if anyone has organized violent groups, it is Bidzina Ivanishvili. Mr. Prosecutors, bring charges against Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili on that count as well.
The third accusation – the seizure of strategic facilities. These strategic facilities belong to the people, and they should be occupied by those who serve the people. Instead, we see that these buildings are occupied by high-ranking officials who, due to the usurped power, are busy stealing and living at the expense of the struggling people. The charge for seizing strategic facilities should also be brought against Bidzina Ivanishvili.
As for the preventive measure – it was already clear during my arrest that I do not intend to hide. I will not run away. If anyone should flee, it is Bidzina Ivanishvili and his team – I will not give them that satisfaction.
If imprisonment is imposed, I will accept it as a given. There are already many political prisoners in this country. I thank them for their struggle," – Nadiradze said.
