Tazo Datunashvili: The provocation at the Atoneli residence was carried out by "Georgian Dream" and Russian special services; in the elections, compared to the previous local elections, we have doubled and tripled "Lelo's" results

If Irakli Kirtskhalia had read even one book on diplomacy, he would understand what idiocy they are spouting - they want to use the events of October 4 to, on the one hand, intensify repressions and give new life to politically motivated repressions, and on the other hand, fulfill the orders of Russian special services by opening a front of hostility with the West - this was the response from Tazo Datunashvili, one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia - Lelo," on the "PalitraNews" program "Daily News" to the statements made today at the Georgian Dream office, where it was noted that the actions of Western ambassadors accredited in Georgia, including those from European countries and EU member states, have exceeded all diplomatic boundaries and contain clear signs of interference in the state's internal affairs. However, as long as the "deep state"-controlled Eurobureaucracy makes decisions on ambassador appointments, expelling specific ambassadors will not work effectively.

As Tazo Datunashvili noted, the parliamentary majority leader Irakli Kirtskhalia, who made statements at a briefing held at the party office today, is "a stupid man who doesn't know what he's talking about."

"This man [Irakli Kirtskhalia] is an uneducated young man. If he had read even one book on diplomacy, he would understand what idiocy they are spouting; he's just uneducated, a stupid man who doesn't know what he's talking about. They want to use the events of October 4, what was happening on the street, to, on the one hand, intensify repressions and give new life to politically motivated repressions, and on the other hand, fulfill the orders of Russian special services by opening a front of hostility with the West. This is Ivanishvili's 'dilikhor' [fool] and the orders of Russian special services. This uneducated young man is the face who talks about all of this. Kirtskhalia, Mariam Lashkhi... these people are social trash, a facade that society must get rid of. Their existence personally means nothing; this is the last act of the Soviet Union in this country, the last Russophiles," Datunashvili noted.

Additionally, Tazo Datunashvili responded to the statements by "Georgian Dream" leaders demanding that European partners condemn the events of October 4. As Tazo Datunashvili noted, there is no evidence that any ambassador supported an overthrow. Furthermore, he adds that the Russian special services and "Georgian Dream" knew about the events that unfolded on October 4 at the Atoneli residence.

"Georgian Dream" is trying to turn the political field into a graveyard. What was happening on October 4 there – we in the political spectrum did not know. I know who did: Georgian Dream knew what was happening there. The Russian special services knew what was happening there. They carried out this provocation; their hand was in this provocation. The goal of all this was to carry out repressions. What ambassadors, which ambassadors! Which ambassador have you seen supporting any such actions? There is no evidence where any of our Western partners' ambassadors supported an overthrow in this country. There is none; it's a lie!" Datunashvili noted.

Regarding the events that directly unfolded on October 4, as Tazo Datunashvili notes, "nothing came of what the bak-buk [nonsense] was about."

"What happened on October 4 at Freedom Square, then at the Orbeliani Palace, was a political adventure. Throughout the previous period, certain political leaders and specific political parties were saying that they would start something on October 4 and finish it on October 4. A revolution announced four hours in advance was supposed to happen.

The last energy and hope of Georgian society were sucked out by these political vampires, creating false expectations. Nothing came of what the bak-buk was about.

First of all, the 314-day protest movement was disappointed and discredited, as the 315th day approaches. Also, nihilism was awakened in the people. On the other hand, the electoral process was damaged. 'Lelo - Strong Georgia' did everything to make the electoral process an important field of struggle in this opposition, not to surrender everything to Kaladze and Ivanishvili. The electoral process was discredited. The responsibility for people not coming and the low turnout lies with that boycott that worked," Datunashvili noted.

In addition, he spoke about the local elections and their results. As Tazo Datunashvili noted, among the results of the boycott is that they could not convince many opposition-minded people that it was necessary to come to the elections. According to him, it is political irresponsibility when you know you have a chance to win in Tbilisi and don't do it.

"If you compare the previous local elections with our current data, we have doubled and tripled our results. In the 2021 local elections, we had 47 thousand votes; in these elections, we received nearly 100 thousand votes. This result we received in the elections is not good for Georgia. I have never said that someone else's fault is my electoral result – no. That irresponsibility called boycotting the elections by political forces, yes, that is political irresponsibility. The main job of political parties is to participate in the political process. Elections are the clearest reflection of the political process. When you know you have a chance to win in Tbilisi and don't do it, that is political irresponsibility. Of course, it is our problem, but among them, the result of the boycott is that we could not manage to convince many opposition-minded people that it was necessary to come to the elections. The demand of the opposition-minded voter was to change the government. We live on the verge of forming an autocratic state. Our enemy, the government in the form of Georgian Dream, uses every lever to suppress the political process. It restricts the political field and kills the political field. It restricts free media and fights the NGO sector. On the other side, a part of the political spectrum emerged that lent a hand to the destruction of this political field, saying that elections have no meaning and not to participate in them. These two sides worked so that we could not manage and convince every opposition-minded voter to come to the ballot box and thus save the country; liberating Tbilisi was necessary. We did everything for that unity that was needed to defeat Kaladze and was possible. After that, we did everything to show an example of struggle during the campaign and election day. We take responsibility, including for not being able to convince a sufficient number of Tbilisi residents, without our opposition colleagues who were necessary to replace Kaladze," Datunashvili noted.

To the question of what is the effective field of struggle that "Lelo-Strong Georgia" will start after the end of the elections, Tazo Datunashvili notes that "Lelo-Strong Georgia" will not change its position on that consistent path, which is demanding new parliamentary elections in the country and changing the government through parliamentary elections.

"We will be relentless on this path. We will only walk on this path, we will not deviate anywhere, we will not trust anyone's assessment in this process, and we will not allow the discreditation of that correct political path on which we stand. We will fight on all fields of struggle. Defeating Ivanishvili goes through the opposition movement. The clearest and most clear expression of the opposition movement is peaceful protest. We will do everything to support peaceful protest. We will fight inside the country or outside the country, in municipal councils or with political partners outside the country, to get new elections. In this country, the government will change through new parliamentary elections. We will fight, we will be in opposition, we will strengthen the protest to get new parliamentary elections," Datunashvili noted.
