"Everyone knew exactly where they were going on the 4th at 4:00 p.m.; as they say, even a child knew what was happening on the 4th at 4:00 p.m.," said Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili in a statement.
According to the Parliament Speaker, everyone was fully aware that on October 4 at 4:00 p.m., they were going to overthrow the government.
"Now, some of these fluttering activists want to pretend they didn’t know anything, but everyone knew everything - that on the 4th at 4:00 p.m., they were going to overthrow the government. I’m referring to those several thousand people who were standing on Freedom Square, our fellow citizens. Not the leaders on the stage, not the politicians, not the heads of NGOs, but the citizens who went there on the 4th at 4:00 p.m. They went there to overthrow the government, and a collective act of betrayal against the state was committed by these several thousand people.
Society sees these several thousand people periodically engaging in hostility against the country. These are the same several thousand people we saw in March 2022, standing in front of the Parliament, demanding that fighters be sent to Ukraine. These are the same people, our fellow citizens - some in business, some in NGOs, some elsewhere - who were dragging our country into war. These are the same several thousand people who stood in front of the Parliament in June 2022, demanding that power be handed over to NGOs. These are the same several thousand people who stood in front of the Parliament and, for the first time in Georgia’s history, applauded a Molotov cocktail being thrown. These are the same several thousand people who were defeated in the 2024 elections and, instead of accepting that defeat, sought to stage a coup in the country. These are the same people standing on Rustaveli Avenue today. These are the people - Nancy Wolands, Nana Nanu Sanders, and adults dressed up as Pokémon - who are embittered about their own lives and their own country. We see their faces, emotionally damaged people who periodically come out against the country. Let each of them say whether they stood on Rustaveli in 2022 and demanded that fighters be sent to Ukraine. These are the same group of people, several thousand individuals, who periodically come out with such outbursts, sometimes dressed as Pokémon, sometimes as SpongeBob, as we saw recently running through the smoke. These are people who clearly have emotional problems and project their emotional damage onto society. Today, too, we saw on Rustaveli Avenue how they attacked a bus, a car, a citizen, or something else. This group of a few hundred people on Rustaveli, or the few thousand they might gather for such events, must be watched by four million people," Shalva Papuashvili stated to the "First Channel."
