“Armenia shows that protecting human rights matters – Georgian fighter Giorgi Kinoyan is free after Armenia refused Russia’s extradition request. A strong step toward a European, rights-focused future”, Zurabishvili says.

Giorgi Kinoyan was detained on September 3 at the Georgian-Armenian border, on the basis of the arrest warrant issued by the Russian Federation. On September 5, an Armenian court sentenced Giorgi Kinoyan to 40 days of extradition detention. As is known, a court in Donetsk, temporarily occupied by Russia, found Giorgi Kinoyan guilty last year, according to Russia, of "mercenary fighting" in Ukraine.
