Ministry of Internal Affairs fines OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen 5,000 GEL

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has fined the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen 5,000 GEL for “blocking the road” on Rustaveli Avenue. The information was confirmed to InterpressNews by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

For information, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Finnish Minister of International Affairs Elina Valtonen was on an official visit to Georgia on October 14. She arrived at the rally near the parliament and spoke to the protesters.

The next day, the Georgian government issued a statement, according to which “due to participation in an illegal rally and making false statements, the Prime Minister canceled the planned meeting with the Finnish Foreign Minister.” Elina Valtonen later told the Finnish publication Helsingin Sanomat that the planned meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze was canceled not at the initiative of Georgia, but at the initiative of Finland due to a change in schedule.
