Irakli Kobakhidze on Peter Fischer: The German government made a very correct and pragmatic decision - what his predecessors built over 30 years, this ambassador, Mr. Fischer, practically dismantled

"The German government made a very correct and pragmatic decision. You saw that this person’s presence in our country was counterproductive for Germany. No ambassador has damaged Georgian-German relations; on the contrary, if we recall previous ambassadors, each contributed positively to the development of Georgian-German relations, and what his predecessors built over 30 years, this ambassador, Mr. Fischer, practically dismantled. However, everything will be restored very soon, given the great tradition of our cooperation, partnership, and friendship. I am confident that everything Mr. Fischer sought to dismantle will be restored very soon.

I don’t know when the German government will make a decision, but when a new ambassador arrives, we will, of course, be open to cooperation with them," stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze regarding the recall of Germany’s Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, for consultations.

As a reminder, on October 19, the German Foreign Ministry issued a statement noting that Peter Fischer, Germany’s Ambassador to Georgia, had been recalled for consultations.
