The investigation will discuss, based on the existing and additional evidence obtained, both the classification of Irakli Gharibashvili’s actions and the selection of a preventive measure against him, - the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Emzar Dzagnidze, said at the briefing held at the State Security Service.

According to the director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Irakli Gharibashvili fully cooperated with the investigation and admitted to receiving illegal income for years.

“As is known to the public, intensive, complex, operational and investigative actions are underway in criminal cases, in connection with which searches of various apartments, including those of former high-ranking political officials and persons associated with them, have been conducted in the past few days.

As you know, a few minutes ago, a briefing was held at the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia regarding one of the criminal cases and one of the persons detained as a result of the aforementioned complex measures.

We would like to inform the public additionally that today, former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili was questioned at the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service. He fully cooperated with the investigation and admitted to receiving illegal income over the years. Accordingly, in the coming days, the investigation will consider, based on the existing and additional evidence obtained, both the classification of his actions and the selection of a preventive measure against him, which will also be communicated to the public," said Emzar Gagnidze, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service of Georgia.
