The Tbilisi City Court recognized Azerbaijani journalist Afgan Sadygov as an administrative offender.
By the decision of Judge Zviad Tsekvava, he was sentenced to 14 days of administrative detention.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs accused Sadygov of artificially blocking Rustaveli Avenue on October 18.
"I fully support the Georgian people whose rights are being violated. Ivanishvili is steering Georgia toward dictatorship. Those who agree with Ivanishvili are also supporting dictatorship. Why don’t you investigate the acts being committed against people? Ivanishvili is the one who should be punished. You can sentence me to a year, because as soon as I’m released, I’ll join the protests again. Don’t support dictatorship. Ivanishvili is a dictator, to the end!" declared Afgan Sadygov.
For reference, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on October 18-19, 14 individuals were administratively detained for violating the rules of holding assemblies and manifestations, and 53 instances of violations were identified, with 42 individuals being offenders.
