"Georgian Dream" will not, at this stage, appeal to the Constitutional Court with a request to ban the political activities of specific individuals

"Georgian Dream" will not, at this stage, appeal to the Constitutional Court with a request to ban the political activities of specific individuals. This statement was made by Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili at a press conference held in Parliament.

As Papuashvili noted, the legislation provides a "flexible instrument" to prevent the activities of individuals who will be associated with banned parties.

"At this stage, we do not have a lawsuit claim regarding individuals, because the instrument that exists in the form of a successor party provides broader opportunities to prevent the unconstitutional political activities of those people who will be associated with banned parties—that is, it is a more flexible and broader instrument than if we were to compile and submit a list of individuals, and we preferred to go this route at this stage," Papuashvili stated.
