"We appeal to the international community to act firmly and prevent the final burial of democracy in Georgia," states the declaration from "Lelo - Strong Georgia."
According to the statement, "Bidzina Ivanishvili is abolishing democracy and abolishing Georgia as a democratic state."
"Today, 'Georgian Dream' has fully activated the NKVD-style punitive repressive machine and decided to dissolve 'Strong Georgia - Lelo' - the party that, since its founding, has broken the vicious political bipolarity and created a real alternative for hundreds of thousands of Georgian voters.
Bidzina Ivanishvili is telling the people who did not vote for 'Georgian Dream' in the 2024 elections - and whose votes were stolen - that they will have no other choice. He is telling them they must be citizens of a Soviet Georgia, a model of today’s Russia and Belarus. He wants to turn Georgia into a North Korea.
'Strong Georgia - Lelo' has fought and continues to fight since its founding to save the country from the oligarchic regime and secure its European future!
We have already appealed to the Constitutional Court to exhaust all constitutional mechanisms available within the country. Now, the Constitutional Court is the mechanism that can save the remaining remnants of democracy in Georgia. We have no intention of announcing self-liquidation or surrendering the interests of our voters and the Georgian people to Bidzina Ivanishvili and his Russian, corrupt clique.
We will fight inside and outside the country so that Georgia never returns to its Soviet past. In this fight, we feel the support of our voters and are grateful for their dedication.
We appeal to the international community to act firmly and prevent the final burial of democracy in Georgia.
'Strong Georgia - Lelo' is the party that provided a real alternative to Georgian voters and has defended their interests for years. We will continue on this path and keep offering effective resistance strategies to Georgian society.
The fight continues and will not end until democracy is restored in the country and Georgia resumes its path toward Euro-Atlantic integration.
You are right to fear 'Strong Georgia.' We will make you pay anyway!" the statement reads.
