Kakha Kaladze: When you are controlled from outside and do not care about your country or the Georgian people, such political parties have no place in the country - As for European Parliament members - they are not interesting - they have double standards

"When you are controlled from outside, follow external instructions, and do not care about your country, the Georgian people, or the future, such political parties have no place in the country. European Parliament members are not interesting; they operate on double standards: whatever suits them is acceptable, and whatever is not in their interest, they oppose and make statements based mainly on lies and falsehoods," stated Tbilisi Mayor and "Georgian Dream" General Secretary Kakha Kaladze, assessing "Georgian Dream's" constitutional lawsuit to ban three parties and the reactions of European Parliament members.

According to him, when you are controlled from outside, engage in anti-state actions, encourage violence, and fuel polarization, the state will respond.

"This is an example of double standards. We can look at various countries where parties have been banned. This was our pre-election promise. More than 1.2 million people supported 'Georgian Dream' and the promises made during the campaign. Specific political parties that represented a bloody regime before 2012 have continued anti-state actions. They are sabotaging Georgia, disregarding the idea of a democratic state and undermining its fundamental principles. Of course, when you are controlled from outside, follow external instructions, and do not care about your country, the Georgian people, or the future, such political parties have no place in the country. I can give examples: when parties were banned in Ukraine, Moldova, Finland… When you are controlled from outside, engage in anti-state actions, encourage violence, and fuel polarization, the state will respond. European Parliament members are not interesting at all; they operate on double standards. I have not heard any statements when television stations were shut down in Moldova before elections or when opposition parties were banned. I have not heard any statements when political parties were banned in Ukraine. It’s double standards: whatever suits them is acceptable, and whatever is not in their interest, they oppose and make statements based mainly on lies and falsehoods," Kaladze noted.

When asked whether early elections are expected amid the party bans, Kaladze said there will be no early elections, and the party’s goals for 2028 will be revealed then.

"You will learn our goals in 2028 during the pre-election period. We are open, act transparently, and fulfill all our promises. There will be no early elections," Kaladze stated.

For reference, "Georgian Dream" is appealing to the Constitutional Court to ban three parties. According to Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, the constitutional lawsuit prepared by the ruling party requests the declaration as unconstitutional and banning of the following parties: "National Movement," "Coalition for Change," and "Strong Georgia - Lelo."
