"Strong Georgia - Lelo" demands the public disclosure of the terms of the contract signed for transferring the Krtsanisi forest-park in Tbilisi and the so-called Gonio polygon territory in Batumi to an Arab investment group.
As stated by the party's General Secretary, Irakli Kupradze, at a press conference today, "Georgian Dream" transferred 590 hectares in Tbilisi and 260 hectares in Batumi to the Arab investment group without any tender, transparency, or public discussion.
Kupradze plans to initiate legal action if the contract terms are not disclosed.
"Ivanishvili and his violent, anti-Georgian, and anti-national regime continue to make anti-Georgian decisions. Ivanishvili's illegitimate government transferred 590 hectares—the Krtsanisi forest-park area in Tbilisi—and 260 hectares—the so-called Gonio polygon territory in Batumi—to an Arab investment group without any tender, transparency, or public hearings. The 590 hectares, which constitute a recreational zone near Tbilisi with 5 lakes and an ecosystem characteristic of riparian forests, have been transferred today to an Arab investment group by Ivanishvili's order. This is a decision fraught with corruption risks that serves only one interest—Ivanishvili's interest. We have heard statements from the Arab investment groups, according to which residential buildings are to be constructed on nearly a thousand hectares of recreational zones in Tbilisi and Batumi. By the decision of the head of these Arab groups, 60% of the construction and sales will be oriented toward international buyers, including citizens of the United Arab Emirates. They wish to relocate to Georgia for residence," Kupradze stated.
According to him, the Georgian government does not hold a controlling stake and will not be able to make significant decisions regarding these green zones, which "are on the verge of destruction today by Ivanishvili's decision." Kupradze emphasized that "construction offers are actively advertised on Russian markets."
"The contract is hidden by Ivanishvili and the anti-Georgian 'Dream.' Our critical and radical demand is the immediate public disclosure of the contract and its terms—on what basis Georgian people's property, the Krtsanisi forest-park, the Gonio coastal strip with inland lakes, and the vitally important green recreational zone were transferred to Arab investment groups. This concerns national interests, the demographics of Georgian citizens, national security, ecology, and environmental protection. Today, 'Georgian Dream' has confirmed unprecedented levels of corruption within its ranks.
If these contracts are not disclosed, we will definitely fight through legal means to obtain the contract and show Georgian citizens the truth—how Ivanishvili and his anti-Georgian 'Dream' are selling Georgia's national interests," Kupradze stated.
