When we had questions regarding substitution therapy and psychotropic medications, we completely abolished the practice of private entities conducting substitution therapy and importing psychotropic medications. Wherever we had suspicions, we took measures - this is how Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze responded to journalists' questions about possible interest from investigative agencies in procurements in the healthcare sector during Zurab Azarashvili's tenure as minister.
Kobakhidze also told the journalist: "If you have suspicions about corruption, we are ready to look into everything, get involved in everything, and answer everything."
"Investigations may be interested in various directions; I'm not speaking specifically about this. For example, when we had questions about substitution therapy and psychotropic medications, we completely abolished the practice of private entities conducting substitution therapy and importing psychotropic medications. Wherever we had suspicions, we took measures. Over these two years, we have taken numerous measures to avoid any risks related to corruption as much as possible. If anyone provides us with information that there was corruption somewhere, we are ready to look into everything together with you. This is our attitude," Kobakhidze stated.
Regarding the journalists' question of whether Zurab Azarashvili had been summoned for questioning, Kobakhidze said that questioning any person is the responsibility of the relevant agency.
"I can't tell you; it's the job of the relevant agencies to question any person. I don't know who was summoned and who wasn't. You can inquire with the relevant agencies. We have a simple approach. We will not turn a blind eye anywhere, to anything - whether it was in the past, is today, or will be tomorrow. Provide us with any information if you have suspicions about corruption, and we are ready to look into everything, get involved in everything, and answer everything," Kobakhidze stated.
