The illegal imprisonment of Gagra native Aza Chilachava is a manifestation of the war against Georgianness, our traditions, our identity and our past, and of the regime’s decay - Aza Chilachava must be released unconditionally! - This is stated in the declaration issued by the Coalition for Change.
The statement notes that 71-year-old IDP Aza Chilachava from Gagra is being held illegally by Ivanishvili for blocking a road and wearing a face mask.
“71-year-old Gagra IDP Aza Chilachava, who is on a dry hunger strike while in illegal detention,is the woman who in occupied Gagra showed true heroism: she buried fallen Georgian fighters in their native soil. Today Ivanishvili keeps her in illegal detention for blocking a road and wearing a face mask, while the regime’s prosecutor-confirmed corrupt official Gharibashvili walks free. The illegal imprisonment of Gagra native Aza Chilachava is a manifestation of the war against Georgianness, our traditions, our identity and our past, and of the regime’s decay. Aza Chilachava must be released unconditionally!” the statement reads.
For information, Aza Chilachava was administratively detained by law-enforcement yesterday. She is accused of artificially blocking a road. It later became known that she had started a dry hunger strike. Chilachava had previously been held administratively liable, but at that time she received only a verbal warning.
