Salome Zurabishvili: Everything that is written in the EU report is solely the responsibility of the Georgian Dream - our movement towards Europe was stopped intentionally, on the instructions of Moscow

Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, has arrived at a rally on Rustaveli Avenue.

According to Zurabishvili, the blockade of Rustaveli Avenue will not stop. According to her, those gathered on Rustaveli are protesting the blockade of a much more important road, “the blockade of the road that belongs to us.”

According to Zurabishvili, what is written in the EU report is solely the responsibility of the Georgian Dream.

“What is happening today has been planned for 2 years - when we were celebrating on Freedom Square, when they did not let me on stage, it immediately began, the regression that the European Union noted today. This is not a regression, this is a conscious, intentional, consistent breaking of this path. A path that opened faster than planned. The events in Ukraine are one of the reasons why the European path accelerated. The Georgian Dream began to consistently break this path. Today, after 2 years, Georgian Dream has achieved that our candidate status has been frozen. More precisely, Georgian Dream has been frozen. Because Georgian Dream is responsible for everything that has happened. Everything that is written in the report is solely the responsibility of Georgian Dream. There is no responsibility on the part of the European Union, which tried everything. It showed a bit to much patience, it should have demanded more strictly from this regime to implement the recommendations that were not implemented. The stop was deliberate, on Moscow’s instructions. This is unacceptable for the Georgian people. The blockade of Rustaveli Avenue will not stop. These are people who are protesting the blockade of a much more important road, the road that belongs to us. No one has the right to block this road for us.

When the European Union says: “Our doors remain open” - they are not talking to the regime, they are talking to us, to the people standing here. The road is open. It depends on us, on the people, on society, and this society is very strong. Georgian Dream is surprised by how strong the society is, how much solidarity and courage it is capable of,” Zurabishvili said.

Zurabishvili also visited the hunger strikers in front of the parliament.
