Irakli Kobakhidze: The situation that has been created within the European bureaucracy is tragic, and Ms. Kos’s statements also testify to this - I advise everyone to listen carefully and accept the choice of the Georgian people; do not demean yourselves with lies

“The situation that has developed within the European bureaucracy is tragic, and Ms. [Marta] Kos’s statements also reflect this,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in Shanghai, responding to remarks made by European Commissioner Marta Kos.

According to the Prime Minister, the Georgian people have expressed their will, and everyone must accept their choice.

“The situation that has developed within the European bureaucracy is tragic, and Ms. [Marta] Kos’s statements confirm this. Georgia is a leading, outstanding country among candidate states in every respect — this includes democracy, human rights, economic development, and the low level of corruption. In every direction, Georgia is an exceptional leader among candidate countries. This is the current reality.

As for the European bureaucracy — the spokesperson of the European Commission directly came out and supported the October 4 rally. That is a fact. The rest is being assessed very clearly by Georgian society. Even today, some people are addressing the Georgian people. The Georgian people have expressed their will, and I advise everyone to listen carefully to that will and accept the choice made by the Georgian people — the one made in October 2024 and the one to be made in October 2025 — and not to demean themselves with such lies and speculations as we have been witnessing all this time,” the Prime Ministe said.
