Mikheil Kavelashvili on the “United National Movement”: These people are fascists, literally – if Mikheil Saakashvili were in charge today, he would do worse than what happened on November 7

Mikheil Kavelashvili made this statement regarding the United National Movement.

He told journalists that if Mikheil Saakashvili were leading Georgia today, he would act even more harshly than he did on November 7.

“Today there is already a legal process against them, and a case has been submitted to the Constitutional Court regarding the ban of this party, based on facts. This is the same force that committed crimes, ‘raided’ businesses, took lives, and many people were shot directly on the streets. Businesses were seized, TV stations were forcibly taken over – all of these are documented facts. Regarding November 7, I am reminded of former President Saakashvili, the architect of all this. We can see that he hasn’t changed. Look at the way he speaks – the same attitude persists. The only thing he lacks now is power, otherwise he would do even worse if he were leading Georgia today,” Kavelashvili said.

He explained that the United National Movement continues along the same path it followed years ago.

“Instead of reflecting over the years, they could have at least apologized to the families of people who were shot in the streets. One could apologize for excesses determined from their own perspective, but we see that this person does not change. His entire faction maintains the same views and attitudes. These people are fascists, literally,” Kavelashvili said.
