Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, expressed his sorrow and solidarity with Türkiye over the crash of the Turkish military aircraft.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic crash of Türkiye’s military cargo plane in Georgia. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased crew members. We express our solidarity with Türkiye in this time of grief,” – wrote Shalva Papuashvili on social media platform X.
For reference, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, a Turkish military aircraft crashed in the Sighnaghi Municipality, approximately five kilometers from Georgia’s state border. Preliminary information indicates that the aircraft was flying from Azerbaijan to Türkiye.
An investigation is underway under Article 275, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to violation of air transport operation or safety rules resulting in loss of life.
The Turkish bureau of Azerbaijani outlet APA, citing the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, reported that 20 people were on board the crashed Turkish military aircraft.
