Irakli Kobakhidze condoles with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan over Turkish military plane crash

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed his condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan over the tragic crash of a Turkish military aircraft. The Prime Minister spoke with the Turkish President by phone.

Irakli Kobakhidze wrote on social media platform X that Georgia stands in full solidarity with its Turkish friends during this difficult time.

“I expressed my sincere condolences to President Erdoğan over the tragic crash of the Turkish Air Force cargo plane in Georgia. In this difficult time, Georgia extends full solidarity to our Turkish friends. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragedy,” the Prime Minister stated.

For context, the Turkish military plane crashed in the Signagi municipality, approximately 5 kilometers from the Georgian state border. The aircraft was reportedly on a flight from Azerbaijan to Turkey.

An investigation is underway under Article 275, Part 4 of the Criminal Code, which concerns violations of air transport safety or operational rules that resulted in the loss of human life.
