The State Security Service has extended all restrictions imposed on Levan Khabeishvili for two months, Khabeishvili's lawyer, Lasha Tkesheladze, writes on social media.
As Tkesheladze notes, Khabeishvili is the first politician to be arrested for making a political promise.
“The State Security Service has extended all the restrictions imposed on Levan Khabeishvili for 2 months!
The court is scheduled to hold a hearing on December 9, where the issue of changing Levan Khabeishvili’s preventive measure should be discussed.
The State Security Service could extend the aforementioned restrictions only until December 9, but the State Security Service has already decided, instead of the court, not to change Levan Khabeishvili’s preventive measure – detention! He is the first politician in the history of independent Georgia to be arrested for a political promise – arrested for his word.
These restrictions also show that they are afraid of his truthful word!
The State Security Service uses a sophisticated method of torture – it deprives a father of the right to see and call his minor children,” Tkesheladze wrote on the social network.
For your information, Khabeishvili was charged under Part 2 of Article 339 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which involves promising to give a bribe or money to an official to commit an illegal act.
In addition, Levan Khabeishvili was also charged under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which involves publicly calling for the overthrow of the state government.
