Prime Minister: The government takes full responsibility for the implementation of the Eagle Hills project in full compliance with Georgia's national interests - we are ready to answer any questions regarding all the principle issues of the contract

When one investment project has such a significant impact on the development of the country, it is not surprising that Georgia's foreign ill-wishers are so active against it and are working with full force to create their own agency, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated regarding the Eagle Hills project.

According to the Prime Minister, the government takes full responsibility for the implementation of the project in full compliance with Georgia's national interests.

"On the one hand, no "Arabization", no transfer of land to foreigners, no manipulations in the calculation of the investment. On the other hand - 24,000 temporary and 8,000 permanent jobs, an additional 11 billion in the Georgian economy, an additional 700 million GEL per year in the state budget, developed spaces of the highest standards in Krtsanisi and Gonio, new opportunities for tourism development, no financial obligations, financial guarantees or non-standard conditions in relation to the partner company, an incentive for other large companies to make large-scale investments in the Georgian economy. When one investment project has such a great effect on the development of the country, it is not surprising that Georgia's foreign ill-wishers are so active against it and are working with full force to develop their own agency. However, the main thing is the truth and I think that in such conditions, the choice of the government and each informed citizen is very simple. Our choice is peace and development for Georgia and for a better future for Georgians. The government takes full responsibility for the implementation of the project in full compliance with Georgia's national interests," the Prime Minister said.

In addition, as Irakli Kobakhidze noted, "the government will fully protect Georgia's national and demographic interests, and only under these conditions will all projects be implemented that will bring greater prosperity to the population of our country and economic progress to Georgia."

According to him, the government is ready to answer all questions regarding the issues of the agreement signed with Eagle Hills, and the general development plan will be approved transparently, in compliance with the procedures provided for by law.

"As for granting the contract the status of a commercial secret, this fact is based, on the one hand, on Georgian legislation, and, on the other hand, on international practice. The state has nothing to hide from its citizens and is ready to answer all questions regarding the contract. However, it is in the interests of any commercial company to keep the details of the contract secret in order to have more freedom in the future when negotiating with other potential partners. This is the only reason why the contract was granted the status of a commercial secret. When the businessman leader of some party knows all this and his party is still speculating on this topic, it is impossible not to remember how difficult the fate of a foreign agent is. I repeat once again that we are ready to answer any questions regarding all the principle issues of the contract. As for the general development plan, it will be approved by the Ministry of Economy and the relevant municipalities, transparently, in accordance with all standard procedures provided for by law.

I would like to remind you of the fake xenophobic campaign launched 3 years ago about the "Russification" of Georgia and the undermining of national security. Back then, we told the population that everything was under the control of the state and promised that neither the "Russification" of Georgia would occur nor would any threat be posed to the national interests of the country. Today, 3 years later, everyone sees that the false alarm of foreign agents, with which they then misled quite a few honest citizens, had no basis in reality and the government faithfully fulfilled its promise.

Today, we promise exactly the same to our fellow citizens. The government will fully protect Georgia's national and demographic interests, and only under these conditions will all projects be implemented that will bring economic progress to Georgia and greater prosperity to the population of our country," the Prime Minister said.
