Kakha Kaladze on the abolition of the Anti-Corruption Bureau: It was an externally imposed, supposedly independent body

“It was an externally imposed, supposedly independent body. In reality, this function will be transferred to the Audit Office. Should I evaluate [the activities of the Anti-Corruption Bureau]? I have nothing to complain about, what do I know? I don’t even know what to tell you,” — this is how the General Secretary of Georgian Dream, Kakha Kaladze, reacted to the fact that from March 2, 2026, the Anti-Corruption Bureau will be abolished and its functions fully transferred to the State Audit Office.

When asked if there is any case discovered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau that he recalls, Kaladze responded:

“I can’t tell you, I haven’t looked into it. I am focused on my work, I am interested in my own responsibilities — this is my priority: what I will do for my city and its residents.”

For reference, from March 2, 2026, the Anti-Corruption Bureau will be abolished and its functions will be fully transferred to the State Audit Office.

Additionally, according to Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, the Personal Data Protection Service will also be abolished from March 2, 2026. Moreover, from January 1, 2026, the Business Ombudsman’s Office will be abolished, with its functions transferred to the Ministry of Economy.
