Irakli Kupradze: The Anti-Corruption Bureau became so marginalized that its abolition became inevitable - transferring its functions to the Audit Service is a mockery by the most corrupt government in the country’s history

According to Irakli Kupradze, one of the leaders of the coalition “Strong Georgia – Lelo,” under Georgian Dream the Anti-Corruption Bureau became so marginalized that its abolishment was unavoidable — and transferring its functions to the State Audit Service is an insult to citizens by a government that is “the most corrupt in Georgia’s history.”

Kupradze also assessed that Razhden Kuprashvili “served only and exclusively the interests of Ivanishvili.”

“Under Georgian Dream, this extremely important body — the Anti-Corruption Bureau — became so marginalized that its abolition became inevitable. Razhden Kuprashvili, who served only and exclusively the interests of Ivanishvili, has not investigated a single significant corruption scheme or case involving the most corrupt government in Georgia’s history for all these years. It was a ‘toy office’ for party workers that served the interests of Ivanishvili.

Its abolition and transfer to the Audit Service is just a mockery toward the citizens from a government that is the most corrupt in the history of Georgia. An illegitimate government makes these political decisions. Therefore, the next administration — the next coalition government — must be obliged to create a real and effective Anti-Corruption Bureau. A bureau that will be independent and will investigate, in particular, the corruption cases committed in the past, the cases that Ivanishvili’s government commits every single day,” Kupradze said.

As a reminder, by decision of Georgian Dream, starting from March 2, 2026 the Anti-Corruption Bureau will be abolished, and its functions will be fully transferred to the State Audit Service.
