The 2024 elections showed that diaspora votes are independent - now they want to silence them, – this is the reaction of Polish MEP Krzysztof Brejza to the statement by the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, according to which, similar to local self-government elections, citizens will be able to vote in parliamentary elections only within the territory of Georgia.

“The self proclaimed Chairman of the Georgian Dream Parliament announced a plan to prevent citizens abroad from voting. This move targets opposition voters, undermines democracy, and mirrors pro-Russian authoritarian tactics. The 2024 elections showed that diaspora votes are independent - now they want to silence them. The EU must act immediately! Shame to be a Russian satellite,” – Krzysztof Brejza wrote on X.
