Irakli Kobakhidze is comparing the vague Arabization project to the Anaklia port project today, which is completely comical! – reads a statement of Strong Georgia-Lelo.
As stated in the statement, it is impossible to compare the Anaklia project, which is in absolute accordance with Georgian national, geopolitical, economic and military interests, with a project signed with a private developer, which raises serious questions and risks in relation to the national interests, including in terms of economy, demography and security.
"In the case of Anaklia, all incoming investments were approved by the Ministry of Economy. Accordingly, all details were known, including the founder, the investment, and the strategic importance of the project for the Georgian national interest.
What is known in the case of the Arab project? - Nothing! The contract is classified and the public has no answers to any critical questions.
Also, the Anaklia contract was won by the consortium as a result of an open international tender among 12 participants. In which tender did the Arabs win? - None!
The terms of the Anaklia tender were known to the public. What is known from the contract concluded with the Arab side? - Nothing!
According to the agreement signed with the Anaklia consortium, ultimately, 100% of the Anaklia port would be transferred to the Georgian people and would be in full ownership of the state!
In the case of the Arab project, it was previously announced that at least 60% of the land and real estate built on it will be sold to foreigners, including Arabs.
In addition to everything, this contract is commercially unprofitable for the Georgian side!
Two questions arise:
2. Has the 1.2 billion corresponding to the Arab 67% share been deposited in Georgian banks as a counterweight to the 600 million Georgian investment?
The questions must be answered!
P.S. If the American investment had been protected in the same way as the Arab one, we would have a port in Anaklia today, the city of Anaklia, and a security guarantee! - reads the statement.
For information, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that there is speculation about the agreement signed with Eagle Hills, because people familiar with the matter know well that such commercial agreements are subject to the status of commercial secrets.
"This topic was first raised, as I remember, by the Lelo party and its leader. The whole cynicism in all this lies in the fact that it itself had signed an agreement with the government, the state, and the matter concerns the agreement signed between the Anaklia Consortium and the Georgian government, which was classified in exactly the same way. Now this person, who knows everything about how such an agreement is granted the status of a secret, in what manner, in compliance with the legislation, is speculating," Kobakhidze stated.
