The Georgian government’s approach and rhetoric regarding South Ossetia have not changed significantly in recent years, - the so-called ministry of foreign affairs of occupied Tskhinvali responds to the statements made by the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, and the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, about the decision to abolish the administration of the administrative-territorial unit created on the territory of the former South Ossetian Autonomous Region.
“Despite the somewhat conciliatory tone emanating from Tbilisi, we again note the use of destructive terminology and subjective opinions from the times of Gamsakhurdia and Saakashvili, including accusations of “Russian occupation”, etc.,” the statement reads.
According to the statement, “the current situation in Georgia is a manifestation of an acute internal political struggle” and the so-called foreign ministry “expresses its belief that Georgia’s acceptance of the existing geopolitical status quo will contribute to stability and peaceful development in the region.”
“We once again call on the Georgian authorities to accept the political reality created after August 2008 as reality,” reads the statement.
