“It is not surprising that Brussels avoids dialogue, especially on the issues about which, if asked, they would supposedly have the most to say. The reason is simple: when your positions are built on false narratives and disinformation, you know very well that during the very first reasoned conversation this false construction will collapse with a single touch of the truth,” — this is how the Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, responds to the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the EU–Georgia Human Rights Dialogue meeting has been postponed by the decision of the European Union.
According to him, “there is no ‘Europe’ without respect for truth and openness to criticism.”
“It is not surprising that Brussels avoids dialogue, especially on the issues about which, if asked, they would supposedly have the most to say.
The reason is simple — when your positions are based on false narratives and disinformation, you know very well that during the very first reasoned conversation this false construction will collapse with a single touch of the truth.
There is no ‘Europe’ without respect for truth and openness to criticism,” Papuashvili writes.
As a reminder, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the EU–Georgia Human Rights Dialogue meeting was postponed by the decision of the European Union. As the Ministry explains, “Brussels is not ready to hear the Georgian side’s well-reasoned positions.”
Moreover, as the information released by the Ministry states, “using this issue for yet another round of speculation raises serious doubts and creates the perception that the European External Action Service was not driven by a sincere desire to hold the meeting.”
