Prime Minister - In every ministry there are people who have more knowledge on a specific issue and they may tell you that someone else should come, because Estonia, Margus Tsakhkna or someone imposed sanctions - we cannot follow such an offensive approach

Everyone knows very well that the European bureaucracy avoids dialogue, they are afraid of dialogue, because we are right, in absolutely all directions, including in terms of human rights, - said the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to the head of government, information was also prepared and the government group was ready for a frank discussion with the European bureaucracy.

“It has become apparent that they are avoiding discussion, avoiding reasoning, and looking for an excuse to disrupt any type of discussion. They are afraid of dialogue like the plague, this is their attitude. This is a Soviet approach, they are acting like the Union government. Previously, the Union government was called the government of the Soviet Union, and now the EU government is presented to us as the Union government. This is not the right approach, this is the Soviet approach. Even the Soviet approach was much more pragmatic and rational. In this case, running away from any discussion is a much more serious thing than the Soviet approach, which we see,” Irakli Kobakhidze said on Imedi Live.

In addition, according to Kobakhidze, there are people in every ministry who have the most knowledge on a specific issue and "maybe you will be told by the European bureaucracy that this most knowledgeable and competent person should not come, but someone else should come, because Estonia, Margus Tsahkna or someone imposed sanctions on this specific official of yours."

"Of course, we cannot follow such an offensive approach," - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to the head of government, the delegation is composed of the most competent people on a particular issue.

“We are a dignified state and we must protect the dignity of the state to the end. As for the approach of the European bureaucracy, it is they who show that they completely reject dignity when they completely avoid any discussion, including on human rights. They simply have nothing to say, including on the topic of human rights,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.

For information, the Georgia-EU dialogue meeting on human rights issues, which was scheduled for November 21, 2025 in Brussels, according to the agreement between the parties, was postponed several days before the meeting by the decision of the EU side.
