We can once again boldly say that we plan to hold elections on October 28, 2028, as established by the Constitution of Georgia, - said the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze.
As the head of government noted, the opposition has publicly admitted that if extraordinary elections are theoretically announced, it is in the interest of the government, not the opposition.
"They have realized one thing, which is very good - they are no longer demanding snap elections, moreover, they have publicly admitted that if snap elections were theoretically announced, it would suit the government, not the opposition. They see what the election results are. If snap parliamentary elections were held tomorrow, in a month, in two months, theoretically, we would gain a constitutional majority. In other words, the opposition would once again be defeated in this case, which does not suit them. Therefore, they themselves once again admit that holding snap elections is no longer in their interests. Despite this, despite subjective theoretical interest, we can once again boldly declare that the elections will be held within the time frame established by the Constitution, namely, on October 28, 2028," the Prime Minister said on Imedi Live.
