Shalva Papuashvili: Since 2022, the European Union has assisted Ukraine with 180 billion euros, while at the same time the EU has paid Russia 310 billion – we certainly do not deserve moral lecturing from these people

“Today, by the way, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden waved around a chart - I don’t know why he was so pleased about it - but from 2022 until now, the European Union has provided 180 billion euros in aid to Ukraine. At the same time, the EU has paid 310 billion euros to Russia - for various products, energy resources, etc., meaning 130 billion more than to Ukraine. And these people are telling us something?” stated the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili.

According to the Speaker of Parliament, those who “warm their hands” from all of this have no right to lecture others about morality.

“Kaja Kallas’ husband was involved in trade with Russia, including in goods that could potentially be used for repression. Lithuania is telling us something? Lithuania, which imports more wine into Russia than we do? With what moral authority are they speaking to us? To our country - whose two regions are occupied by Russia - and they are telling us that we are not supporting Ukraine enough?

By the way, I have spoken about the ingratitude of the Ukrainian authorities, and today I saw the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine thanking all the UN members who supported a particular resolution. Among those supporters was Georgia - and yet we are called a de facto pro-Russian government, although they gladly take our votes and cannot even thank us for the fact that, all this time and under these conditions, we stand by their side. So, moral lecturing from people who are benefiting from all of this — we certainly do not deserve that,” Papuashvili said.
