Ivanishvili should look for incompetent liars in his own ranks. The truth is that when someone like Maia Bitadze was spending money obtained through corruption on “shopping,” the largest and most influential political group in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly adopted a resolution calling for the activation of specific international instruments to investigate corrupt schemes — which would later serve as a basis for imposing financial sanctions against the regime and its members, United National Movement Chair Tina Bokuchava stated.
Bokuchava was commenting on the resolution discussed at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Istanbul. She noted that the text of the resolution “was particularly painful for the regime, causing a wave of propaganda hysteria.” At the briefing, Bokuchava also visually presented the resolution’s text, explaining that this was intended to show the truth to Georgian citizens.
“‘Rus-Koko’ propagandists are spreading the false claim that the resolution I discussed from Istanbul was never adopted. It is clear that some in the ‘Rus-Koko’ ranks have literacy issues, but I want to present the truth to Georgian citizens once again, demonstrating it visually so they understand the facts and do not fall victim to ‘Rus-Koko’ disinformation, which circulated for several days.
The text of the resolution was particularly painful for the regime, which triggered a propaganda hysteria spread by ‘Imedi,’ ‘Post-TV,’ and ‘Rustavi 2.’ The hysteria was due to the fact that the resolution calls on OSCE member states, the European People’s Party, and like-minded groups to urge international partners to activate relevant instruments, such as the Council of Europe’s GRECO and MONEYVAL, to investigate Ivanishvili’s corrupt schemes. This is extremely important for the potential imposition of international sanctions on the regime.
The regime, of course, fears financial sanctions because for Ivanishvili the most precious and, in fact, the only thing he cares about — contrary to the country’s national interests — is his money. This is evidenced, among other things, by the dispute with Credit Suisse, where he claims 607 million and has effectively taken the whole country hostage over it. This triggered the propaganda hysteria, but I considered it important to present this documentation.
Ivanishvili should look for incompetent liars within his own ranks. The truth is that when someone like Maia Bitadze was spending money earned through corruption on ‘shopping,’ the largest and most influential political group in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the European People’s Party and allied groups, adopted a resolution calling for the activation of specific international instruments to investigate corrupt schemes, which would later serve as a basis for imposing financial sanctions on the regime and its members,” Bokuchava said.
