The myth about Arabization has no basis at all, the head of Eagle Hills assumes that 60% of the apartments will be sold to foreigners, and when he said this, he was motivated by the desire to present the economic effect of the project even more positively, - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
According to his estimates, an average of 15 thousand apartments are sold to foreigners per year, although this does not cause any demographic problems.
“During these years, an average of 15,000 apartments were sold to foreigners per year, meaning Georgians bought approximately 75,000 apartments per year and foreigners - 15,000 apartments. This has not caused any demographic problems, because in most cases apartments are sold to foreigners for investment purposes. Accordingly, this does not cause any demographic problems. The head of Eagle Hills expressed his assumption that he assumes 60% of the sales to foreigners. When he said this, he was driven by the desire to present the economic effect even more positively. Specifically, what is meant is that when 60% of foreigners buy apartments, this means that additional resources, additional money and, accordingly, additional contribution to the economy are coming into the country from outside. In this regard, he presented this project positively from his point of view. However, our expectations are different, because what we are talking about is that in total approximately 16,000 apartments will be sold, of which approximately 7,000 apartments will be sold in Tbilisi and more will be soldin Gonio. When we talk about 7,000 apartments, imagine that our citizens buy 75,000 apartments annually, that's 10% of that, imagine what the ratio is. Our assumption is that Georgians will buy much more and, accordingly, less money will come in from outside, but our expectation is that it is the citizens of Georgia who will buy more, much more than 50%," Kobakhidze said.
According to him, the Eagle Hills project is of unprecedented scale.
"Ultimately, all this is managed from one hand, like everything else, when good deeds for the country are opposed, everything is managed from one hand and here too it is clear that everything should be managed from one hand. Despite the fact that at first glance there is a motley composition that speaks with the same absurd message, it seems that in the end there is some kind of coordination. I explained, approximately, what could be behind this, among other things, I recalled the conversations of a specific ambassador regarding the fact that someone was a good pro-Russian and someone was not a good pro-Russian, then, apparently, someone also became a good pro-Russian and that's how the general spectrum was arranged. There are things that you should not speculate on. It is clear that in politics there is a government and an opposition and in general, it is in the interests of the opposition to criticize everything as much as possible in order to strengthen its own political positions, but when it comes to issues of common national importance, I think that when you are the opposition, even then you you should refrain," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the Prime Minister, the Eagle Hills project is a matter of general state importance and not a narrow political issue, as it concerns an unprecedented investment.
According to him, they speculated why the contract regarding Eagle Hills is classified, although this is an accepted international practice”.
“They speculated why the contract is under the classified. This is a common practice, according to our legislation, according to international practice. It is provided that a contract with a specific commercial content is given the status of a commercial secret. Khazaradze started this campaign and his company also had the same request. Maybe he also intended to settle Arabs, Russians, Chinese or British in Anaklia. Why did he hide it? 33% is our share. They agreed to make this 33% public. We are talking about this with their consent. 33% remains with us. Maybe tomorrow this company wants to enter another country and wants to leave not 33%, but only 20% to the state there. Negotiations on each point lasted 3-4 months. There was talk as if this contract provided for the construction of mosques and other religious buildings – but there is no non-commercial clause in this agreement," the Prime Minister said on POSTV.
