The false narratives coming from the European People’s Party are not new – not a single word from such foreigners can be trusted, these are the people who told Ukraine that they would stand by them until the end, then collectively told them that Ukraine must cede its territories, - this is how the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, responded to a question regarding the information disseminated by Rustavi 2 that they had obtained a letter that EPP members had sent privately to members of the European Commission, which states that “Georgia is bypassing sanctions and helping Russia.”

According to Shalva Papuashvili, “all kinds of letters have lost their power for the Georgian people.”

“The false narratives coming from the European People’s Party are not new. The most difficult thing is that the European People’s Party is the strongest union in Europe and is in power in several countries. We see that a party devoid of such values, spreading disinformation and, most importantly, attacking other peoples, is in power in various countries, including in the European Commission, where they are represented in leading positions, including as the President of the European Commission.

In reality, we see that all kinds of letters have lost power for the Georgian people, not a single word from such foreigners is enough. These are the people who told Ukraine that they would stand by them until the end, and yesterday we heard comments from the governments of various countries that the line of contact should be at the point from which negotiations should begin and they jointly told Ukraine that it should cede territories. So, unfortunately, we have many such enemy-friends. But, fortunately, the Georgian people have learned how to deal with such enemy-friends,” said Shalva Papuashvili.

Shalva Papuashvili also assessed the cancelation of a meeting between the European Union and Georgia.

“They know that as soon as the truth touches the disinformation and false narratives that Brussels so stubbornly pushes, at that moment this narrative collapses. They know that they are weak in their arguments, they know that they cannot put forward anything against the truth, this is actually the weak escaping from the discussion, because they know that they do not have any arguments against Georgia,” said Papuashvili.
