"Judging by the injustice that has been happening in recent years, they are making purely political decisions against Bidzina Ivanishvili. Recently, blackmail has been going on deliberately, although Mr. Bidzina has won various court cases in all instances. However, due to a political decision, they are not returning the money. Let's wait and see what verdict they will issue. It is one thing to make a decision, it is another to implement it," the mayor of Tbilisi said.

As for the journalist’s question: “Maybe they are not returning the money to Bidzina Ivanishvili because he is sanctioned by the United States,” Kakha Kaladze said that the sanctions were imposed unfairly and this is part of blackmail.

“This does not matter. We know that the sanctions were imposed absolutely unfairly and without explanation. Moreover, before the Joe Biden administration imposed sanctions on Ivanishvili, he had already won the court cases and the funds had not been returned. His sanctioning was also a political decision. Bidzina Ivanishvili and his family are being blackmailed, including in exchange for giving up the country’s interests. These processes are still ongoing today and I do not think anything will change. Bidzina Ivanishvili protects the country’s interests. The policy pursued by the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia is aimed at ensuring peace in the country.
