Irakli Kobakhidze - The agreement signed with Eagle Hills does not provide for the construction of mosques in Georgia - this agreement in no way provides for benefits, including in terms of issuing residence permits

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the agreement signed with Eagle Hills does not provide for the construction of mosques in Georgia.

As Kobakhidze explained during his interpellation speech in Parliament, the agreement signed by the government with the Arab company does not provide for any benefits for foreign buyers either.

"In fact, nothing special. No essential point from this agreement is unknown to the public. I would like to ask the parliamentarians, can you theoretically imagine any point that could be included in this agreement and about which you would like to receive information? One such theoretical issue was raised by a representative of one of the parties. He expressed doubt that the construction of mosques is provided for in this agreement. Even if you ask such theoretical questions, we can clarify that the construction of any mosques is not provided for in this agreement. Moreover, it can be generally said that no non-commercial point is included in the agreement, even mosques or benefits for foreign buyers. I explained to the public that this agreement in no way provides for benefits, including in terms of issuing residence permits, there are no discriminatory clauses to the detriment of Georgian citizens. For example, it does not state who can be employed, who can be a buyer, and so on. All of this will be regulated by relevant market relations, just as it is the case with other investment projects,” Kobakhidze said.
