Kakha Kaladze on today’s rally: What should I expect? You see, in what condition they are! It doesn't matter how many there are, 10, 30... – they are in the minority

What should I expect? You see, in what condition they are! It doesn't matter how many there are, 10, 30... – they are in the minority and want to force things to be rearranged, it won't work. There is a constitution and a law, whoever goes against it will receive an appropriate response, - the mayor of the capital, Kakha Kaladze, stated while speaking about the protest rally-march planned today.

According to him, they are in the minority today.

“What should I expect? You see, what condition they are in?! It doesn’t matter how many there are, 10, 30. It doesn’t matter at all. They are in the minority. This is a given. The Georgian people said no to them in parliamentary elections, they said no to them in the local elections. This is a given, and someone is in the minority and wants to force things to change, it won’t work. There is a constitution and a law, whoever goes against it will face appropriate reactions,” Kaladze noted.

In addition, according to Kakha Kaladze, over the past year, the country has become even stronger, more sovereign and independent.

According to Kakha Kaladze, the issue of Georgia's European integration is being used to put pressure on the government and the country.

"We heard an official statement that the topic of negotiations with Europe was suspended before Irakli Kobakhidze made a statement on this, but this is of no significance. The Prime Minister himself, the parliamentarians, and I have also said many times that the Georgian government is ready to start negotiations, but they are not interested in this, because the political process is ongoing. They are trying to use the path of European integration to put pressure on the government, on the country. The main reasons for this are that we did not obey their orders - we did not open a second front, we did not join the sanctions. This has become the main driver of the speculation and filth that we have been hearing from some European bureaucrats in recent months," said Kakha Kaladze.

According to him, the main thing is the Georgian people, in whose interests the Georgian government acts.

“Over the past year, the country has become even stronger, we have become more sovereign. We are an independent state that our ancestors earned with blood, and we will not allow anyone to trample all this underfoot. Perhaps, if it were not for our principled position and policy, we would have found ourselves in the same situation that we found ourselves in in 2008. First of all, it is the homeland. We must understand the importance of the homeland. The majority of the country's population elected us to protect the interests of the people living in this country, to maintain peace, which is important like never before. Peace brings development and progress,” - noted Kakha Kaladze.

On November 28, 1 year has passed since Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that, according to the decision of the Georgian Dream, the issue of opening negotiations with the European Union would no longer be on the agenda until the end of 2028.

The aforementioned statement was followed by a protest that has been going on for 365 days. Citizens are gathering in front of the legislative body with unchanged demands - to call new parliamentary elections and to release those detained during the protests.
